Her new advice book for children is A Kid’s Guide to Life – and her first novel for kids, All the Time in the World, is coming in September. The author of nine previous books – the novels Missing, Dog, Devotion, and, most recently, Close-Up; the story collection A New and Glorious Life; and three earlier collections of essays – The Middle of Everything, Stories We Tell Ourselves, and Like A Song – she taught creative writing for many years at Ohio State, where she was a founder and the longtime director of the MFA program in creative writing.
